She completed both her medical degree and PhD in ophthalmology at the University of Adelaide receiving several awards for academic excellence. Following core medical and ophthalmology training in Oxford and South Australia, she was subsequently the first international surgeon to be awarded a prestigious two-year glaucoma fellowship at Stanford University in the United States, where she gained further experience in complex glaucoma and cataract surgery.

A/Prof Sun was recently recruited back to Adelaide as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Modbury Hospital, and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Adelaide. In addition to her clinical care, she has an active interest in ophthalmic research with 70 peer-reviewed publications and is also a past Sight for All Board Director.

A/Prof Sun is looking forward to commencing at Harley Eye in January 2024 and providing exceptional patient-centred care.
